The Blue-footed Booby was the most commonly sighted bird in the Galapgos Islands.
The coolest thing about them, besides their brightly-colored feet and their
goofy mating dances, was their technique
for feeding. They fly about 80 feet above the ocean, and when they spot a fish
in the sea they suddenly slow and dive
bomb straight into the water, piercing the surface with a sound like missile
piercing cellophane. Then, a couple seconds
later, the booby pops back up to the surface, bobbing up and down on the surface
as if nothing had happened.
