Bainbridge Island Loop

This route should be familiar to most of the RAMROD crew this year since some of us did the Chilly Hilly in February, and some of us rode this last year when training for STP. Scenic, hilly ride. Lots of fun if you have the time to hop the ferry across. I also posted the ferry schedule below.

Start: Washington state ferry terminal at Pier 52, Seattle. Take ferry to Winslow on Bainbridge Island. Research ferry schedules online before you go. (external link).

0.0 Board ferry and fasten bicycles to bicycle moorage points. At Winslow, leave ferry and head uphill on State Route 305.

0.2 Turn left at traffic light on Winslow Way East through the Winslow shopping area.

0.8 Turn right and uphill on Grow Avenue.

1.1 Turn left on Wyatt Way Northwest and continue left around Eagle Harbor. Road changes name to Eagle Harbor Drive.

2.0 Turn left with Eagle Harbor Drive. Road changes name to Rockaway Beach Drive, Halls Hill Road and, finally, Blakely Avenue.

6.8 Turn left on Northeast Country Club Road.

8.5 Entrance gate to Restoration Point Country Club. View surroundings and head back along route.

9.4 Turn left on Toe Jam Hill Road toward South Beach. Steep grades both up and down.

10.7 Bear right on Northeast South Beach Road along water's edge. Views of Rich Passage, populated in season with goldeneyes, surf scoters, baldpates, harlequin ducks and aquaculture pens.

11.6 Continue on South Beach Road as Fort Ward Hill Road goes right. Go around gate and follow trail into Fort Ward State Park. Picnic tables and pit toilets by boat launch at mile 12.4. Exit Fort Ward State Park at mile 12.5 and continue on Pleasant Beach Drive Northeast.

13.1 Keep left with Pleasant Beach Drive as Oddfellows Road goes right.

13.9 Turn left in Lynwood on Point White Drive. Road changes name to Crystal Springs Road.

16.5 Turn right on Northeast Baker Hill Road and climb over hill.

18.1 Turn left at stop sign on Lynwood-Center Road.

19.0 Turn left on Fletcher Bay Road Northeast. Keep straight with main thoroughfare on Miller Road at mile 21.0 as Fletcher Bay Road swings left to a dead end. Grocery and restaurant at this intersection. Note: Battle Point Road goes left at mile 21.4 to Battle Point Park; picnic tables. Optional side loop with return via Arrow Point Drive.

22.9 Bear left toward Manzanita on Peterson Hill Road Northeast. If this turn is missed, go left on Bergman Road.

23.3 Turn left on Bergman Road, which is renamed Manzanita Road as it executes a dip and continues uphill.

24.6 Turn right on Hidden Cove Road West. Cross State Route 305 at mile 25.1 and continue on Hidden Cove Road East.

26.6 Turn left on Phelps Road toward Port Madison and Fay Bainbridge State Park. Continue past Frog Rock at mile 26.8.

26.9 Keep left at three forks by Port Madison historical monument and continue down to and along waterfront on Euclid Avenue in Port Madison. Follow Euclid uphill and left as it becomes a narrow, paved, tree-lined lane.

27.9 Turn left on Fayette Avenue toward Fay Bainbridge State Park. Kane Cemetery at mile 28.2. Road turns right in deep dip at mile 28.4 and is renamed Sunrise Drive.

28.6 Turn left into Fay Bainbridge State Park. This 17-acre state park has camping, clamming, swimming, picnicking, restrooms and hot showers. Follow roadway through park.

29.0 Turn left on Sunrise Drive at park exit.

31.7 Turn left on Valley Road toward Manitou Beach as Sunrise Drive ends; grocery. Road bends right and becomes Northeast Manitou Beach Road at mile 31.9.

33.3 Turn left on Moran Road just before encountering State Route 305.

33.6 Turn left on Lofgren Road, which bends right at mile 34.0 and is renamed Ferncliffe Avenue Northeast.

35.7 Turn right on Winslow Way East.

35.9 Turn left and downhill on Olympic Avenue Northeast (State Route 305).

36.2 Winslow Ferry terminal; end of tour.
